The last ever professional photos taken of iconic actress Marilyn Monroe are hitting the auction block.
Six poignant images of Marilyn — who passed away at age 36 in August 1962 — were captured by the star's close friend, celebrity photographer George Barris, on July 13, 1962, just a few weeks before her death.
Experts predict each of the photographs could garner up to $6,000 in the Heritage Auctions sale, which runs from April 18-19.
"When I first saw her I thought she was the most beautiful, fantastic person I'd ever met," Barris told the 'Los Angeles Daily News' of his late friend in 2012. "She completely knocked me off my feet."

According to Barris, the picture of Marilyn making a kissy face at the camera was the last shot ever taken of the blonde bombshell.
The photos were previously published in Barris' 2001 book, 'Marilyn: Her Life In Her Own Words: Marilyn Monroe's Revealing Last Words and Photographs.'
As for why the photos hadn't been publicly showcased before that time, the photographer explained he was too distraught over the 'Some Like It Hot' star's death to share the images.
